High-Speed Chase Follows Drunken Driver Complaint at McD's

A Franklin man police say was driving drunk led officers on a high-speed chase down Ryan Road. 

Police say Christopher Wolf, 24, ignored an officer's instructions in the parking lot of an Oak Creek McDonald's early March 2 and fled the scene. He sped down Ryan Road before losing control and crashing into a snowbank near 33rd Street, according to a criminal complaint.

Wolf is now charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with fleeing police, a felony; his second drunken driving offense; and operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration. The charges carry a maximum sentence of four years, six months imprisonment and $12,200 in fines.

According to the complaint and an Oak Creek police report:

An officer responding to a report of a possible drunken driver at McDonald's, 9471 S. 13th St., approached Wolf in his vehicle and noted bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong smell of alcohol.

The officer asked him if he had anything to drink, and Wolf said he had not. The officer then asked Wolf to pull into a parking spot, and Wolf refused, saying he was going home.

After refusing a second time, records state, Wolf put his car in drive and left the parking lot. As the officer chased him in his squad car, Wolf continued westbound on Ryan Road at a high rate of speed.

Wolf went through red lights at Ryan Road's intersection with the I-94 off ramp and 27th Street, police said. At 33rd Street, Wolf tried to turn northbound, lost control and ended up in a snow bank.

He was arrested and taken to county jail. He registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.18, more than double the legal limit to drive.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12.

Wolf was the second alleged drunken driver at McDonald's that night. A 43-year-old Racine man waiting for his food about 11:55 p.m. was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody.
