Vehicle In Fatal Accident Was Struck Twice

Authorities continue investigation into Tuesday's crash.

As authorities continue their probe into exactly what happened , some details are beginning to emerge.

An initial investigation reveals that was northbound on Chicago Road and waiting to make a left turn onto Oakshire Drive when he was struck from behind by a vehicle going about 40 mph, according to a police report.

That caused Lara's vehicle to be pushed into the southbound lane, where he was hit again by an oncoming vehicle, the report said.Β Lara's vehicle ended up off the roadway while the other two cars came to rest on the street.

According to the police report, the drivers of the other two vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured. Lara, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers involved were taken to Wheaton Franciscan for mandatory blood draws, the report said. Patch is not naming them because they have not been charged with a crime.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was called in for accident reconstruction. Eventually, police will take the case to the district attorney's office, which will determine if any charges are filed.
