Woman Allegedly Drove Drunk With Kids in Car

Police saw woman driving erratically on 13th Street and arrested her for drunken driving. She had two children unbuckled in the back seat, according to a police report.

A 36-year-old woman had two children in her vehicle when she was arrested for drunken driving Sunday afternoon, according to an Oak Creek police report.

Officers responded to a 911 call about 1:15 p.m. from a witness reporting a vehicle swerving and hitting a curb on Rawson Avenue.

Police found the vehicle at a stoplight in the 6300 block of S. 13th Street. As the officer followed it, he observed it straddling the double-lane divider, according to the report.

The officer then pulled the vehicle over. The woman had glassy eyes and emitted a strong odor of intoxicants, police said.

The woman admitted to drinking that morning but said she stopped a half hour before picking up the children, who were under 16 and in the back seat unbuckled, according to the report.

She was arrested for drunken driving with passengers under 16 years old, operating after revocation and driving without insurance. The children were taken to their grandparents' house.

Online court records show the woman has previously been convicted of neglecting a child.
