Woman Arrested After Flipping Vehicle, Running Away

A woman was arrested for drunken driving after an accident on E. Randy Road.

A woman was arrested after police say she struck a parked car—flipping her vehicle over in the process—and ran from the scene.

A resident told police the woman was westbound in the 1000 block of E. Randy Road just before 2 a.m. June 30 when she swerved to the right and struck a parked vehicle.

The woman's vehicle eventually landed on its roof. But she didn't wait around for police to arrive: she tried to run away but was apprehended by an Oak Creek police officer, according to a police report.

She was bleeding from the lip, covered in blood and smelled of alcohol, according to the report. Police say she admitted drinking "about five beers." She was also found in possession of a glass pipe and admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day, according to the report.

Oak Creek paramedics took her to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for her injuries, and she was later arrested for operating under the influence.

Police also cited her for failure to keep vehicle under control, failure to notify police of accident and a seatbelt violation.
