Woman Stopped For Driving With No Rear Window, Faces Drug Charge

Wind Lake woman allegedly had a purse full of pills and a pen to snort heroin.

A 19-year-old Wind Lake woman who was pulled over for driving with no rear window is now facing a drug charge in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.

Samantha J. Kurth was charged with one count of possession of a prescription drug without a valid prescription. If convicted, she faces up to six months in prison and $500 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Kurth was pulled over in the 2000 block of W. College Ave. on Feb. 15 after with an opaque sheet of plastic.

An officer found what appeared to be a marijuana blunt inside her car, according to the complaint. The officer then searched her purse and found 11 prescription pills, two packages of Suboxone doses and a hollowed out pen with brown residue inside, the complaint said. A test of the substance revealed the presence of opiates and heroin.

Kurth told the officer she got the pills to help her handle the death of her grandmother and she uses the pen to snort heroin, investigators said.

She's currently free on a $200 signature bond while awaiting trial.

Oak Creek police also cited Kurth for operating with a suspended license and warned her for obstructed driver's view and no proof of insurance.

A 21-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle was cited for marijuana possession.
