Woman Hospitalized After Oncoming Vehicle Runs Red Light

Police issued three citations to a driver involved in two-car accident.

A 53-year-old Oak Creek woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a man ran a red light at 27th and Sycamore and struck her vehicle, police said.

According to an report:

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was northbound on 27th Street about 6 p.m. when he went through the light and hit the woman's vehicle, which was going through the intersection eastbound from W. Sycamore Ave.

The woman's vehicle then struck and knocked down a light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. Her vehicle eventually came to rest in a yard in the 2600 block of Sycamore.

She was taken to the hospital with neck, chest, head and right leg pain.

The 29-year-old man was cited for running a red light, operating without insurance and violation of child safety restraint (A 4-year-old passenger was in his car).

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed.

Traffic lights north of Rawson on 27th Street were temporarily out while the pole was fixed.
