Woman Nabbed Stealing $1k Worth Of Books

A 54-year-old woman tried unsuccessfully to shoplift more than $1,300 worth of books and envelopes from , according to an report.

Store employees saw her load numerous books into boxes about 2 p.m. Tuesday and then attempt to leave without paying, according to the report. Police, who cited her for theft, said she tried to take a total of 81 books and 31 mailing envelopes. The combined value of those items was $1,376.

Officers found more books and mailing envelopes when they searched her car, according to the report. Police discovered those items, with a total value of $215, were stolen from , 6462 S. 27th St.
