Police say they found heroin in Milwaukee woman's purse.

A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman asked for a ride from an Oak Creek police officer, but after the officer searched her and found what police say is heroin, she now faces a felony drug charge.

Jessica McKeel was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of possession of a controlled substance. If convicted, she faces up to 3 Β½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On Dec. 22, police were called to a disturbance in the 2000 block of E. Birch Drive and took a man, who was with McKeel, into custody. She then needed a ride from the officers and agreed to be searched first.

An officer found drug paraphernalia inside her purse along with four bindles of white powder, one of which tested positive for heroin.

McKeel explained she had worked at Silk and at one point said she was kidnapped, but then changed her story and said she was on a date with a man who was going to pay for her children's Christmas gifts.

She will make her initial appearance in court March 9.
