Wrong-Way Driver Arrested for OWI

A woman with a blood-alcohol content more than three times the limit drove the wrong way on 27th Street, police say.

Police say a woman driving the wrong way on 27th Street had a blood-alcohol content almost three times the legal limit to drive.

According to a police report released last week, police pulled the woman over in the 8900 block of S. 27th Street about 4 p.m. July 14.

The woman, who had a female passenger in her car, had a blood-alcohol content of .22, according to the report.

Authorities say wrong-way drivers have increasingly become a problem, especially on the freeway system.

The state Department of Transportation last year installed sensors at nine ramps to alert drivers and authorities when a car gets on the interstate going the wrong way, according to Patch's media partners at WISN.
