City Wins $2.6M In Grants This Year

Mayor says city officials work hard to find outside funding sources to help offset costs to taxpayers.

Since the start of the year, the city of Oak Creek has received $2.6 million in grant funding for police and fire equipment, parks development, expanded health services, road construction and other projects to help the community, Mayor Steve Scaffidi said in his weekly update on the city's website.

City officials work hard to identify other funding sources to offset costs and advance community priorities, Scaffidi said.

"Receiving these funds means that we can enhance our quality of life in Oak Creek without impacting the tax burden on our residents," he wrote. "Having clear community objectives, involving the public in decision making, and encouraging development that makes sense for Oak Creek will continue to be our focus in 2013."

This week's Mayor's Message also has information on the mayor's fitness and weight loss challenge, the rededication of the Legion memorial and the grand opening of Sweet Music.
