American Tire Distributors May Get Tax Assistance

Plan Commission endorsed plan Tuesday night.

A 120,000-square-foot building would receive a $300,000 cash grant under a proposal in front of the Oak Creek Common Council.

City officials say the money would assist in project costs relating to grading and sanitary and storm sewer extensions. The building will be constructed at 340 E. Mahn Court, on land part of the Oak Creek Commercial and Industrial Park, just off Howell Avenue south of Rawson.

The money would be paid from a tax-incremental financing district, a funding mechanism that allows developers or municipalities to borrow money to fund improvements and repay the loan using the property taxes created by the development.
