College Ave. Construction On Track for November Finish

The College Avenue reconstruction project is on target to be completed by mid-November, County Supervisor Pat Jursik said Wednesday.

The street will become a four-lane boulevard and  and sidewalks, among other features. Work  and stretches from Howell Avenue in Oak Creek to Packard/Chicago avenues in South Milwaukee. 

The eastern segment of the project, from Pennsylvania Avenue to the Union Pacific railroad, is slated to be done by October. Jursik cautioned that the timeframes are estimates and subject to change.

But when it's over, she expects the work will greatly enhance the street and make it "a front door for the airport, not a back alley like it has been."

Jursik spoke Wednesday night during , which focused on economic development taking place in Oak Creek, Cudahy, St. Francis, and South Milwaukee.

In addition to Jursik, Oak Creek Dick Bolender and city Development Director Doug Seymour were among the participants. The mayors of Cudahy, St. Francis and South Milwaukee were also there and spoke about development plans in their communities.

The forum attracted just under 100 people. Jursik, the event's lead organizer, said afterward she was pleased with the attendance and with the level of interest in another forum in the future.
