Commission Will Consider Tax Assistance For Hotel Project

Common Council supports $4.5 million measure.

A public hearing will be held Tuesday night on proposed tax assistance for the .

The measure in front of the Oak Creek Plan Commission would provide the hotel developer, Syner G, with $4.5 million in assistance through a tax-incremental financing district.

If the commission gives the go-ahead, the measure would go before the Common Council. All six aldermen on the council . 

The public hearing will begin shortly after 7 p.m. at , 8640 S. Howell Ave.

The hotel project will also include a 1,830-space airport parking lot. Oak Creek will get 5 percent of gross receipts once the parking lot is operational.

Construction is expected to begin this year, City Administrator Gerald Peterson said.

Developers have long-range plans for two additional hotels, a banquet facility, two restaurants and 25,000 square feet of retail.
