Council Seeks to Fill Aldermanic Vacancy

Void left by Scaffidi's election as mayor will be filled by mid-May.

The city of Oak Creek is now accepting applications for 3rd District residents interested in filling the aldermanic vacancy left with Steve Scaffidi's election as mayor.

Residents should submit a letter of interest and, if they so choose, a resume, to the clerk's office at , 8640 S. Howell Ave. Click here for a map of the district.

The council set a deadline of noon May 10 for letters to be submitted. Aldermen will then interview candidates and make a selection in a special meeting on May 14. The appointee takes office the next day.

Council members opted against adding the position to the Nov. 6 election ballot. The appointee will instead serve out the remainder of Scaffidi's term, which expires in the April 2013 elections.

Scaffidi will continue to respond to 3rd District constituent concerns until the position is filled, he said.
