Date Set For State Assembly Special Election

A general election will be held Nov. 19, with a primary set for Oct. 22.

Gov. Scott Walker has scheduled a special election for the 21st Assembly District seat, previously held by Mark Honadel, for Nov. 19.

A primary, if necessary, would be held Oct. 22.

The 21st District covers Oak Creek, South Milwaukee and a small portion of Franklin. The speculation about potential candidates is well under way, with one Republican publicly announcing her intentions to run andΒ a primary widely expected on the Republican side.


Candidates have just one week to circulate nomination papers, from Sept. 17-24.Β 

Honadel officially left office Monday after 10 years as state representative. He resigned to take a job in the private sector, though he has stayed mum on his specific plans.Β
