Deep Freeze Brings Return of Ice Skating

One Oak Creek ice skating rink has opened while another could open by the weekend.

The zero-degree weather that has settled in this week isn't all bad, particularly if you like ice skating.

The rink at Chapel Hills Park, 6735 S. Highfield Drive, is now open and the Henry Miller Park pond could open by the weekend, officials said on the city's Facebook page.

Due to the mild temperatures, the Oak Creek Recreation Department posted signs at Henry Miller Park at the beginning of the month warning people against ice skating (not that it stopped some brave Oak Creek High School students from trying their luck).

The city is hoping to open the pond up by the weekend, weather permitting.
