DNR Evaluating Falk Park Conversion Request

105 acres south of Drexel Avenue would become part of Falk Park under a proposal.

The state Department of Natural Resources is evaluating a proposal in which 105 acres south of Drexel Avenue would become part of Falk Park.

Under a proposed land exchange, Milwaukee County would give up 70 acres north of Drexel -- 50 of which l -- to convert those 105 acres south of Drexel into parkland, according to a DNR news release.

Because portions of Falk Park were purchased with federal grants, public rights cannot be reliquinshed without state and federal approval, according to the news release.
