Oak Creek Vehicle Inspection Station Closing

Layoffs will begin in July for 50 to 100 employees after company loses state contract for emissions testing.

Between 50 and 100 people will find themselves out of work when Envirotest Wisconsin closes and lays off its entire workforce, including those in Oak Creek.

Envirotest Wisconsin is the company that conducts vehicle inspections for the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles and recently lost its state contract to provide emissions testing.

The company will close its station at 561 W. College Ave. in Oak Creek as well as locations in Milwaukee, Waukesha, West Bend, West Allis, Racine, Kenosha and West Allis.

Employees will begin leaving the company July 1 and will receive three weeks severance pay, according to the notice.

"DWD and its regional workforce partner will work with the employer to provide Rapid Response Services to employees," states a news release from the Department of Workforce Development.

Grow up. We won't forget either. That those of you who had a little bit, held tightfisted to it likeRead More a four year old unwilling to share his toy truck. That you endorsed and supported a man who has gone on to undermine this state, its jobs, its infrastructure, its education system, its people, its very foundation. You remember...it was you who did this.
