Facilities Plan in the Works for Milwaukee

Milwaukee's County Board approves resolution to develop facilities plan.

On Thursday, Milwaukee's County Board  overwhelmingly approved a resolution to develop a comprehensive facilities plan for Milwaukee County. In a press release Friday, 8th District Supervisor - Patricia Jursik says that "this approach will ensure that we make the best use of our assets".

Jursik is Chairwoman of the Long-Range Strategic Plan Steering Committee, which developed the resolution. The plan would be to target ongoing County space needs, facilities planning and the sale of surplus properties.

According to the supervisor, consolidation of facilities and the selling of excess properties can increase the effectiveness of the County's operations. In the end, the measure would work to reduce both long-term costs associated with owning facilities and the County's overall real estate holdings.

The plan would also encourage increased foresight in the matter of land asset sales, forcing the budget to proceed based on actual sales instead of, often inaccurate, sales projections.
