Governor Endorses Rep. Honadel's Jobs Plan

Oak Creek's state representative pushing plan to match job seekers with employers.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he supports a jobs plan proposed by Oak Creek's state representative, Mark Honadel.

Honadel's legislation, called "Wisconsin Wins," seeks to match job seekers with employers. Under the plan, people who are unemployed could get part-time training jobs with interested employers, with the possibility of permanent employment afterward.

, Honadel said the bill would allow companies to increase the probability of a good hire, while giving job seekers an opportunity to show off their skills and potentially turn training into full-time employment.

Walker announced his support of the proposal earlier this week when he unveiled his "Wisconsin Working" jobs plan.

"One of the Department of Workforce Development's core functions is to connect jobseekers to jobs," Walker said in a news release. "DWD will remain focused on innovative opportunities to make sure Wisconsin workers find Wisconsin jobs."
