Heavy Lifting Time For Abendschein Park Construction

A 200-ton crane put one of two new pedestrian bridges into place Wednesday and will continue to aid the park project throughout the week.

As heavy-duty projects go, this week's itinerary for Abendschein Park construction would certainly qualify.

A 200-ton crane lifted one of two new pedestrian bridges at the park and put it into place Wednesday morning.

The bridge connects the east end of the park, which is home to a skatepark and playground, to the baseball field.

The crane will put another new bridge in Thursday on the west end of the park. Later this week, it will hoist the new baseball concession stand into place.

This week's work is part of several improvements to the 64-acre park, 1321 E. Drexel Ave. Construction is expected to wrap up by Thanksgiving.
