Get ready for some changes this week as you travel north on Interstate 94 toward downtown.
The state Department of Transportation will apply a final asphalt overlay as part of the Mitchell lnterchange reconstruction project. As a result, I-94 west (northbound) from Rawson to the interchange will be closed completely in the overnight hours and have reduced lanes during the day.
According to the DOT, I-94 west from Rawson Avenue to the Mitchell Interchange will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. It will close at 8:30 p.m. Friday until 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.
Drivers will also deal with reduced lanes. One lane will be closed Wednesday through Friday, while on Saturday traffic will be down to just one lane between College Avenue and the interchange.
Also on Saturday, the Rawson Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-94 will be closed.
The DOT says once the resurfacing operation is done, I-94 from Rawson to Edgerton avenues will be in its final configuration.
The closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
