Jakubczyk, Kurkowski Move On In Election

Incumbent Alderman Dan Jakubczyk was the top vote-getter in Tuesday's Oak Creek Common Council primary, with challenger Steven Kurkowski barely edging Shawn Vollmer to also advance to the April general election.

Jakubczyk got 42 percent of the vote (155 votes), according to unofficial election results. Kurkowski got 30 percent (110), while Vollmer pulled 28 percent (101).

Jakubcyzk, the 1st District alderman since 2009, will face Kurkowski in the April 2 election.

Election results remain unoffficial until certified by the Board of Canvassers.

Oak Creek residents also voted for Supreme Court and circuit court judges Tuesday.

Incumbents Pat Roggensack (Supreme Court) and Rebecca Bradley (circuit court) won big in the local vote. Roggensack pulled in 78 percent of the Oak Creek vote (1,674 votes) in the Supreme Court race, compared to just 16 percent for Ed Fallone (346) and 6 percent for Vince Megna (122).

Bradley, meanwhile, got 70 percent of Oak Creek residents' ballots (1,454 votes) in the circuit court race. Janet Protasiewicz had 19 percent (394) and Gilbert Urfer 10 percent (216).

Roggensack and Bradley were also the top vote-getters overall.
