Local Officials Will Celebrate College Ave. Reopening

Ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Friday.

College Avenue between Pennsylvania and Howell avenues will officially reopen Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring County Executive Chris Abele and others.

The road as crews transform the street into a four-lane boulevard that will  and sidewalks, among other features.

The ribbon-cutting, which will also be attended by County Supervisor Pat Jursik and other public officials, will be held at 11 a.m. Afterward, the public is invited to a reception at the MKE Regional Business Park, on the site of the former 440th Air Reserve Station at 300 E. College Ave.

"The completed reconstruction of this section of College Avenue will provide a greatly improved transportation link that will benefit Milwaukee County residents and businesses," Abele said in a news release. "Thanks to this project, College Avenue will better connect Cudahy, Milwaukee, Oak Creek and South Milwaukee and provide the foundation for greater economic vitality in the area."

Jursik added, "College Avenue is the new front door to the MKE Regional Business Park which is emerging from the former 440th facility. College Avenue is a key corridor for economic development along the South Shore and Aerotropolis area."
