Oak Creek Caught in Middle of Waukesha Water Battle

Waukesha politicians have been immersed in a battle over obtaining Lake Michigan water for some time now.

Oak Creek has found itself in the middle of that fight.

Waukesha will purchase from Milwaukee, Racine and Oak Creek as it applies to divert and return Great Lakes water, which needs the approval of all Great Lakes states, according to .

But there is some dispute about whether Racine and Oak Creek's inclusion in the negotiations is merely a "smoke screen." Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima says the city's attempt to get Great Lakes water assumes a connection with Milwaukee, though others in the city disagree with him.

At stake for the Oak Creek Water Utility, of course, is a huge source of potential revenue.
