Oak Creek Clerk's Race Draws Interest

A primary would be held Feb. 21 if three or more candidates file papers.

The vacant city clerk position, up for election in April, has attracted the interest of several Oak Creek residents.

Catherine Roeske, LeAnn Launstein, Suzette Emmer and Margaret Woolford have all taken out nomination papers, one of the first steps to get on the ballot.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan. 3 to return the papers with at least 200 signatures. If three or more candidates run for the position, a primary will be held Feb. 21. The general election is on April 3.

The seat is open after the retirement of Pam Bauer.

Some of the tasks assigned to the include adminstering elections, handling liquor licensing, record keeping, government meetings, filing of contracts and workers compensation and insurance claims.
