Oak Creek Lifts Ban on Outdoor Burning

Outdoor fires permitted again in Oak Creek after some rain over the past week.

Thanks to some much-needed rain over the last week, the city of Oak Creek has lifted its temporary ban on outdoor burning.

The ban went into effect , the day after a stopped the Oak Creek fireworks display.

Fire Chief Tom Rosandich said in a statement that the fire and police departments still have the right to investigate outdoor burning.

"If a nuisance call is received, and is directly related to the burn, all fires will be required to be completely extinguished," he said.

Regulations for controlled burning still apply. Recommendations for controlled burning permits can be requested through the city dispatch center at (414) 762-8200.

Rosandich also reminded residents about the fireworks ordinance. Sparklers, caps and "snakes" are the only legal fireworks and can only be used on private property.
