Oak Creek May Run Ads During Packers Games

The city's Community Development Authority is considering a proposal to spend $23,000 on advertisements on the Packers Radio Network.

The city of Oak Creek is considering a proposal to spend $23,000 on advertisements that would run during Green Bay Packers' radio broadcasts.

As Oak Creek grows and looks for innovative ways to market itself, getting involved with a brand like the Packers and the Packers Radio Network could greatly raise the city's profile, said Doug Seymour, the city's community development director.

The Oak Creek Community Development Authority decided to look further into the proposal but has not committed to it, according to Seymour.

The money would come from hotel/motel taxes, which are designed to be used for marketing-type activities.

The radio ad possibility comes at a time when the city is working toward breaking ground on the high-profile Drexel Town Square project and a new business park on Oakwood Road, and is also engaged in ongoing efforts to redevelop its lakefront.

Many city officials believe those projects will give Oak Creek an entirely new identity. To that end, the city hired a marketing consulting firm last year and in May released a new logo and branding.
