Even though he didn't sign the recall petition, it would be interesting to hear what Mr. Scaffidi has to say about living in a house where his spouse and daughter did. Was act 10 a mistake or does he support it? If he disagrees with it, does he believe it warrants a recall? Inquiring minds would like to know....

Mark B, obviously, Alderman Scaffidi is a man without a country. He'll tell all just what they want to hear fact or fiction and the dummies over in the third ward in ignorance support him. To see the real character, review his voting record in the minutes on the city web. He voted to repeal the direct legislation. He did not favor a referendum on huge debt. He voted for the 175 million debt financing plan on unstable funding then voted publicly against moving the library to Delphi with full knowledge that the measure would pass and the next day spoke against a reconsideration of the tie vote just to look good for his mayorial campaign. He supported salary increases across the board for overpaid city employees. He supported the use of Eminent Domain against farmer Geifer. He supported financial losses to the city on the MMSD deal with Wis Park and continues to support Wis Park not our city. He voted to pay the mayor of Kenosha 1,500 per month as a consultant which we’ve paid over a year. He voted to grant Wis Park full Managerial power of development with pay from the city for assuming the lead rolls on both the Delphi and Lakefront sites. He voted to accept lake front development again with Wis Park as the paid project manager and to accept the 1.5 million loans from We Energy at 7% interest. VOTE HIM OUT as they told us we should do if we didn't like it. He limited citizen comments to one minute on occasion and others denied pubic input. I could list more out of space.

Mark B, I have to inform you that Alderman Scaffidi the Monday after Bolendar's death met with Jerry Peterson, and Larry Haskins to discuss stragedy as council president at city hall in the city administrator's office. They decided to bring back Al Foeckler or Dale Richards to move forward on the Delphi and other WisPark agreements. He knew he couldn't win the mayorial race if he publically supported their closed session, expensive dirty planning. This guy is not what the city needs to move forward. This guy is going to raise taxes significantly per debt payment needs. Be advised and ask critical questions at the forum. Unfortunately, the sponsors also in bed read the questions before they go into the lottery style drawing and I know from past experience that some questions don't go into the mix. I'd rather have a free choice forum and not leave anything up to the powers that be.

Does anyone know a good place to get information on both candidates? I checked out both of their websites.... one was pretty but without content, the other had a little content but wasnt pretty... just my opinion.

Mike, you might want to ask Police Chief Edwards about Scaffidi. I saw him out this morning moving a Scaffidi sign from across the street from Piggley Wiggley to Rawson and Howell. Of course he might be flunking for Scaffidi thinking with the political machine backing Scaffidi that Steve will be his next boss. How wrong he is. Verhalen is personally going to every residence in the city delivering his flyers. Mike we can take back the city from the spendthrifts if the silent majority VOTES. Give them both a call. Ask them questions on topics your familiar with and see how they answer. Your surely capable of discerning who is giving you specifics and who is running you around and being evasive. Make them take a position, publically state their position and convince you that they are going to maintain that position. At this level of government we do have access to the candidates so use it.

Both candidates will be available for questions at the Candidate Forum on March 22nd at the Oak Creek Community Center. Since they both agreed to it, its safe to assume they both think its a great opportunity to speak directly to the public. Its also hosted by the Oak Creek Patch, who does a fantastic job of getting "unfiltered" news out to the residents. As far as the candidates go, Scaffidi serves as the President of the Common Council and Mark is on the School Board, so both are readily available to talk to at any time. Both have distributed flyers for the race, and both are going door to door. Scaffidi has an updated website, best I can tell Mark hasn't updated his since the last Mayor's race. Bottom line is you can ask the candidates any question directly, you don't have to base your vote on comments posted to a story. These are often biased and unsubstantiated, make wild-eyed conspiracy claims, and attempt to confuse and mis-inform the voter. I'm sure Steve or Mark will be happy to take your call and answer your questions...

Is it just me, or does it sound like vocal local is stalking Mr. Scaffidi?” Maybe they should call her VOCAL LOCO…

I agree with a girl. Vocal local 1 should spend less time stalking Scaffidi and Police Chief Edwards and more time on fact checking your posts.

It sure seems to me that vocal local 1 has personal issues with some of the local officials. How about something positive for a change... How you gonna get any votes for alderperson (4th District) with all the negativity. How about a little love for your peeps.

It is easy for people to criticize from behind your computers. If you are unhappy with the way things are encourage your friends and neighbors to get out and vote. Exercise your right to vote, instead of spending time calling the candidates hurtful names. It is good to have passion for your city, however, let's turn that around into something positive. If you want to really learn what the candidates are all about-take time to go to the forum on the 22nd. From what I've seen-Scaffidi is the right man for the job. I've seen him at events in the community for years, well before he was in a mayoral race-that says a lot about his character. The man cares about the future of our city. Both candidates are good people, so let's not turn this into a petty thing. We are fortunate to have access to both candidates, so if you have questions reach out to them!

Mark B, Steve Scaffidi is running for Mayor of Oak Creek. Leave his wife and daughters out of it. If you do not know his stance on any issue, you are not listening.

Does anyone know what either candidates position is on the Walker Recall? I haven't been able to find any information online on the topic. I plan on being at the forum and hope the topic comes up.
Mark B March 16, 2012 at 01:11 PM
Don't tell me what I should or should not do. I qualified the post with "even though he didn't sign the recall petition." Passion on this topic runs high on both sides. The fact that family members in his house circulated and signed the petition makes it a point of interest for me. Is he for it? If so, did he not sign because he didn't want a public record? Or is he against it? To me, this one issue goes a long way toward telling me what the philosophy of a candidate is and weather or not to cast my vote for that person.

I have been checking all the candidates for all offices, and I've so far found that Sheryl Cerniglia, School Board candidate signed the Scott Walker Recall Petition.
Mike in OC March 21, 2012 at 02:44 AM
@schmootzie p .... good info. I know who I am NOT voting for.....
Schmootzie P March 21, 2012 at 08:08 PM
We know who she's NOT looking out for because she signed...Verify the Recall is a great resource. If anyone uses it, I have had better luck just checking the last name. A Teacher I know who's name is Rick, signed it Ricky ! Never uses Ricky.Guess he wasn't expecting to get discovered..
