Officials Say Public Comments Support Lake Parkway Extension

Formal comments show more than 2-to-1 support for extension to Highway 100.

Public comments regarding an extension of the Lake Parkway through Oak Creek favored the proposal by a more than 2-to-1 margin.

A 30-day period for residents to formally submit comments ended March 15. About 70 percent of respondents supported extending the Lake Parkway to Highway 100, according to a news release from County Supervisor Pat Jursik's office.

A committee studying the issue will meet this afternoon and finalize its recommendations. The group hopes to get the project added to the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission's long-range plan.

Jursik said the public will have more opportunities to weigh in as the process moves along. If successfully added to the long-range plan, it's expected to take at least 10 years before construction would actually begin.
