Renderings Of New Oak Creek City Hall/Library, Fire Station

Renderings released this week give an up-to-date look at the proposed city hall/library and fire station buildings.

New renderings of the planned city hall/library and fire station buildings give Oak Creek residents the best picture to date of what those buildings will look like.

The renderings were shown to the Oak Creek Common Council on Tuesday and are also in the Fall 2013 edition of the Acorn, the city's newsletter and recreation guide that came out earlier this week.

Apologies for the quality of the images themselves—I was not able to obtain them digitally, so I had to improvise. But hopefully you can get a little bit of an idea of what's being proposed.

The library/city hall rendering shows the front entrance of the building, which faces north toward the town square at the Drexel Town Square development, at the corner of Drexel and Howell avenues.

On the other side of the town square will be the "Main Street," where first-floor shops and second-floor apartments are planned. The proposed Meijer store would be east of the city hall/library, near Howell Avenue.

Note: the city hall part of the building is on the left, with the library on the right and shared lobby/meeting space in the middle.

The fire station will be built on Centennial Drive, across from the post office. It will replace Fire Station 1, 240 E. Puetz Road.

Architects and city officials are still tinkering with the design of the buildings, so these are not final. But what do people think so far?
