BACKGROUND STORY-DAVID WANDKE

David has been healthy his whole life, with nary a headache or a need for aspirin. About 7 months ago he thought he pulled his back muscle; he began treating himself by stretching and resting. He began to feel intense fatigue and sleeping more than usual. He took an Advil for the first time in his life ... his response “WOW, this stuff really works!"

The second week of August the pain started to escalate. In addition, his stomach began rejecting any food. He paced the house day and night for ten days straight in excruciating pain (you don't go to the doctor with crappy private health insurance). After finally seeing a local doctor a few times in desperation, he was treated for an ulcer and pulled back. The pain continued to escalate...after 35 years of marriage and having a husband that was never sick, this was serious.

Finally on August 24th it was time to go to the emergency room. An ultrasound showed a grapefruit sized tumor on his right kidney. If he waited two more months, he'd not have made it. After further testing he has been diagnosed with Urothelial Cancer. This means that the cancer started in the ureter and spread to the kidney. Being self-employed with both working at the plumbing business, there's little income since David can't work at all.

October 26, 2012, David went to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee to see the surgeons for the result of his recent scan and to schedule the first surgery to remove the tumor. What we learned is that there would be no surgery. While the Chemo shrunk the tumor, the cancer has spread to other major organs, the lungs and the lymph nodes. The only option is to try an extremely harsh treatment protocol of chemotherapy. WE TRULY NEED YOUR HELP.
