Oak Creek-Franklin Lunch Prices Rise Slightly

The School Board on Monday approved a 10-cent-per-lunch increase to meet a federal requirement.

Lunch prices at schools will go up 10 cents per lunch in the 2012-13 school year.

Administrators said the district was forced to increase the prices due to a federal requirement called Equity in School Lunch Pricing. The provision requires schools provide the same level of support for all students, whether they are eligible for free and reduced lunches or not.

The School Board unanimously approved the increase Monday. Officials said it's the first lunch-price increase in the last four or five years.
