Oak Creek-Franklin School Board Vacancy Will Be Filled Soon

Board will pick Jim Gilmeister's successor Dec. 12.

The Oak Creek-Franklin School District is not wasting any time filling the vacancy on the School Board created when Jim Gilmeister resigned earlier this week.

In a post on its website, the district said that interested residents can pick up applications in the , 7630 S. 10th St., and bring them back by 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 to interview all candidates before making a selection at its Dec. 12 meeting.

Whoever is selected will serve the remaining four months on Gilmeister's term before the April 2012 election is held.

Residents can begin the process of getting on the election ballot by picking up a campaign registration statement and a declaration of candidacy at the district office.

In addition to Gilmeister's seat, incumbent Kathleen Borchardt is also up for re-election.

School Board members are elected to three-year terms and receive $420 per month.
