Report Cards Give Oak Creek Schools Good Marks

All Oak Creek schools are meeting or exceeding expectations, according to new data released Tuesday.

Oak Creek-Franklin schools received good marks on report cards released Tuesday.

All nine Oak Creek schools met or exceeded expectations, according to the report cards, which are part of a new system to measure student achievement and engagement.

Districts and schools are evaluated on student achievement and growth in reading and math, closing performance gaps and college and career readiness.

Oak Creek High School and Carollton, Cedar Hills, Deerfield, Meadowview and Shephard Hills elementary schools were all rated as exceeding expectations.

East and West middle schools and Edgewood Elementary School are meeting expectations, according to the report cards.

The Oak Creek-Franklin School District as a whole was designated as exceeding expectations.

Statewide, the majority of Wisconsin public schools and districts met, exceeded or significantly exceeded expectations, according to the state Department of Public Instruction.

State Superintendent Tony Evers said the report cards don't provide a full picture of successes and challenges in each district, but are a "door" to make sure schools are preparing students to graduate college and be ready for their careers.

"These preliminary district and school report cards provide valuable information about education in Wisconsin," Evers said. "They offer a starting point for schools and districts to plan improvements.

"Additionally, report cards show how Wisconsin can continue to refine its accountability system to truly serve the education community, parents, policymakers, and the public."
