School Board Honors State Champion Knights

Coach Scott Holler and his players were recognized at the start of the Oak Creek-Franklin School Board meeting.

After a week of devastation and community turmoil, the start of Monday's Oak Creek-Franklin School Board meeting provided a welcome reprieve.

The School Board recognized the baseball team, which on July 20 won its state-record fourth summer baseball championship.

With several players and Head Coach Scott Holler in attendance, board members congratulated the Knights on their season, including .

"These kids are hard-working. They're dedicated," Athletic Director Greg Lampe told the board. "If you're going to play Oak Creek, you better be prepared."

The Knights finished with a 28-7 overall record and cruised into the July 20 state title game.

Trailing 4-0 in the sixth inning, the Knights rallied back to tie the game and then won in the bottom of the seventh.

"Your hard work and dedication to the sport has certainly paid off, and you should be commended on a job well done," Board President Frank Carini said.

Superintendent Sara Burmeister also lauded Holler, saying the two have had many conversations about leadership ideas and philosophies.

"Scott has just an absolutely phenomenal philosophy when it comes to leadership and when it comes to providing that direction for the students," she said. "He's a great teacher, coach and leader."
