Some Oak Creek High School students tried to stage a walkout Wednesday.

Some Oak Creek High School students staged a walkout Wednesday morning to protest Gov. Scott Walker's proposed budget-repair bill, repeating a familiar scene throughout Wisconsin this week.

According to police reports, a fire alarm was pulled about 11:10 a.m., which was believed to be associated with the walkout.

Police were able to identify and cite the student after viewing school video surveillance.

Some Oak Creek-Franklin School District teachers traveled to Madison to participate in massive demonstrations which have drawn tens of thousands of public workers from throughout the state.

The number of teachers who called in sick wasn't known, but school was in session today. Several area school districts called off classes because of the number of teachers calling in sick.

The state Legislature was scheduled to vote on the bill today, but Senate Democrats are boycotting the vote and have reportedly left Madison to avoid a vote being taken.
