Knights Begin State Title Defense
Oak Creek, winners of both the GMC regular season and tournament titles, is coming off another impressive regular season.
Oak Creek will try to repeat as state baseball champions when it begins tournament play Friday.
The Knights, seeded No. 1 in its sectional, will take on South Milwaukee at 5:30 p.m. at Abendschein Park.
South Milwaukee defeated West Allis Hale 3-0 on Tuesday in advancing to face Oak Creek, which had a bye in the first round.
The winner of Oak Creek-South Milwaukee will play either Whitnall or Muskego at 11 a.m. Monday in the sectional semifinal at Whitnall. The sectional final is later that day at 5 p.m.
The Knights are coming off yet another impressive season. The team is ranked No. 1 in the area by the Journal Sentinel, became the first team to win both the Greater Metro Conference regular season and tournament titles and won at least 20 games for the 11th straight year.
