Knights Grab Conference Baseball Title

Defending state champ Oak Creek edged Franklin 3-1 Friday night as it heads into the state tournament.

Behind a complete game from junior pitcher Jesse Sustachek, the Oak Creek Knights beat Franklin 3-1 Friday night to claim the Greater Metro Conference tournament championship, as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports

Sustachek struck out seven and did not give up a walk as Oak Creek notched its 21st win of the season—the 11th straight year of 20 wins or more.

The defending state champion Knights are heading into the state tournament as a No. 1 seed and will await either South Milwaukee or West Allis Hale July 12.

Oak Creek advanced to the conference title game following the 25th career win from pitcher Hayden Krimmer in the semifinals. That ties him with Seattle Mariners draft pick Tony Butler for the school's most career wins.
