No. 2 Knights Begin State Title Quest

Oak Creek faces West Allis Central to start what could be a deep postseason run.

It's been more than three months since the Oak Creek girls basketball team lost a game.

And the Knights are hoping that opening night defeat to Milwaukee Pius is still their only blemish about two-and-a-half weeks from now.

The 21-1 Knights, ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press state poll and the top-ranked team in the Journal Sentinel's area poll, begin state tournament play with a home game at 7 p.m. Friday against West Allis Central. Should Oak Creek prevail over Central, they would play Saturday against the winner of West Allis Hale-Racine Case.

It's been a season to remember for the Knights, winners of 21 in a row. They ended the regular season with a blowout of Brookfield Central, ranked 10th in the Journal Sentinel poll.
