Oak Creek Baseball Off to Hot Start

Knights are 4-0 but face No. 1 Franklin tonight.

The 2011 edition of the Oak Creek High School baseball team has come out of the gates strong.

The No. 8-ranked Knights are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference after a 15-5 victory over West Allis Hale on Saturday, according to the team's website. Senior right-hander Matt Hampson improved to 2-0 on the season after a strong four-inning performance.

A day earlier, the Knights knocked off Marquette University High School 2-1 in a game that was replayed on Time Warner Cable Sports.

But the team may face its stiffest challenge yet when it travels to No. 1-ranked Franklin this afternoon. The Sabers are the defending state champions and, like Oak Creek, undefeated. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
