The Oak Creek High School track and field team sent a contingent of athletes to the WIAA State Track and Field meet Friday and Saturday in La Crosse. Although Oak Creek didn't bring home titles in any events, they still put on their best effort in front of thousands of people at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the UW-La Crosse campus.
Here's how Oak Creek athletes faired over the weekend:
BOYS
- Austin Zajkowski - 3200 Meter Run - 11th Place - 9:39.35
- Wezley Turner, Nick Baumann, Virgil Hammond, Thomas Kroon - 4x200 Meter Relay - 19th Place - 1:33.13
- Thomas Kroon, Wezley Turner, Chase Leonardi, Caleb Ogden - 4x400 Meter Relay - 15th Place - 3:26.04
- Derek McAllister - Pole Vault - 11th Place - 13 feet, 6 inches
- Virgil Hammond - Long Jump - 20th Place - 20 feet, 5 inches
- Robert Campos - Discus - 24th Place - 122 feet, 1 inch
GIRLS
- Stephanie Kostowicz - Shot Put - 14th Place - 36 feet, 3 inches
- Stephanie Kostowicz - Discus - 10th Place - 113 feet, 3 inches
