Mike Pierce to Challenge Christine Sinicki for the Wisconsin Assembly

ST. FRANCIS – Mike Pierce (R-St. Francis) announced yesterday his candidacy to represent the 20th assembly district.  Pierce is running against current Rep. Christine Sinicki (D-Milwaukee) who he characterizes as a “career politician.”

In a press release, Pierce said “I will fight for the needs of our community with the same passion and work ethic I’ve demonstrated in the private sector and serving our country in the United States Air Force.”

Pierce went on to say that supporting entrepreneurship, creating jobs and enhancing education while lowering the tax burden would be his priorities if elected.

Pierce is a retired colonel in the US Air Force, having served for 28 years.  Pierce’s military experience includes working at the Pentagon for the Chief of the Air Force Reserves and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Pierce currently works as the Wisconsin Director for Employment Initiatives for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves, an organization under the Department of Defense, that acts as a liaison between reservists and guardsmen along with civilian employers.

Pierce holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  In addition, he holds master’s degrees in Systems Management and Business Administration from Binghamton University (New York) and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Pierce is active with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee.

Incumbent Christine Sinicki has been in office since 1998.  She has been a major voice on raising the minimum wage.  In 2001, Sinicki served as Minority Caucus Secretary.  Sinicki worked as a small business manager prior to being elected to the Assembly.  Before her election to the Assembly, Sinicki served on the Milwaukee School Board from 1991-1998.
