In an eleven page supplemental complaint filed with the GAB, Wisconsin Republicans allege that Ms. Burke admitted her involvement in approving a poll that would gage her support for a gubernatorial bid without giving the required disclaimer describing who paid for the poll. The alleged admission came from Ms. Burke during a campaign event held on November 26th in Fond du Lac. During the event, Burke said: “I would not have gotten into this race if I didn’t think I could win. I made sure I did a poll that showed what the path to winning was going to be, and how to get there.” The complaint documented articles from Blogging Blue and The Prairie Badger in which reported Burke’s alleged admission.

The first complaint against Ms. Burke and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin was first filed on June 24th in which Wisconsin Republicans allege that the Burke Campaign ran survey calls without the required “paid for by” disclaimer. An affidavit filed by John Hogan documented the nearly thirty minute conversation with the pollster in which he was asked for his opinion in a potential 2014 gubernatorial match-up between GovernorScott Walker and Ms. Burke. Mr. Hogan’s affidavit stated that when he asked for who paid for the poll, the pollster refused to answer.

Wisconsin Election Watch contacted the Republican Party of Wisconsin, the Burke Campaign, along with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for comment.  Neither of them responded to our request at the time of publication.
