The Sikh Temple started with just 20 families in rented space in the south side of Milwaukee; it has since grown to number in the hundreds. A new Gurdwara was built in Oak Creek to better serve the needs of the growing community. The construction of the 17,500 square-foot Gurdwara was completed in 2007. This beautiful brick building now has updated facilities, library, educational area, a play area for children and parking for 100 cars. It also provides space for child care of infants and small children.

Inside the building is instruction for reading, writing and speaking of Punjabi language, with accommodations for visiting ragi jatha from India and from around the country.

The staff here at netwmd.com, LLC wish to express their condolences to the Sikh community in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, victims of a heinous, ugly, and hateful crime. We consider that this crime was committed against not just Sikhs, but us ourselves, our families, our community, our state, our nation, and all of humanity. Terrorism is unacceptable. Period. Hatred is unacceptable. Period.

The killer, Wade Michael Page, was ignorant and evil. There is absolutely no justification or rationalization for his crime. There is absolutely no justification or rationalization for terrorism. Such acts are absolutely unacceptable in the beautiful, diverse tapestry of America, land of the free, home of the brave.

We need to come together as a nation and figure out why senseless atrocities like the Colorado theater shooting and the obscenity against the Sikh community can happen. We need to think long and hard. We need to search our souls together. Then, most importantly and together, we must act, work, and pray together for peace and unity. We are our own custodians. Let us make sure America stays the land of the free, home of the brave.

I too wish to add my voice to the many who send you all peace and light at this time. Your beliefs practice peace and giving, do know that there are many of us who are educated to know what your beliefs practiced. May you receive all the support you need at this time to all of your families, friends and community. Namaste.

My heart goes out to all the members of the beautiful Sikh Temple in Oak Creek. This horrendous and diabolical act committed against You has shocked all of Milwaukee, and Wisconsin, and the entire world. May the God of all of us hold You close in this dark hour. May light and life fill You all again.

My thoughts are with the victims in these dark hours. Our common humanity is all we have in the end yes some see and feel only darkness within themselves. Our Sikh friends are a loving and peaceful people yes six were felled by violence born out of ignorance. Prayers to the victims.

I mourn for the victims of the recent shootings and wish that I could somehow convey to their loved ones how deeply this matter disturbs me. The Sikh religion is a beacon of truth and compassion. While adherents may not be perfect individuals, I cannot question the contributions that Sikhs have made to a better world through their emphasis on personal responsibility and on the need to bring justice to the downtrodden.

I'm so sorry... not all of us are full of hatred as that person was.
You are all my brothers and sisters of this planet Earth and you did NOT deserve that. Please forgive the prejudiced, the emotionally and mentally damaged and those who's hearts have been raised and taught the ways of hatred and fear.
Bless you all in your time of grief.
Bless us all.
I am so sorry.

Peace,

Ala Claxton
