Tom, thank you for your service to our country. A country which was founded on the pursuit ofRead More religious freedoms. But when you write a sentence as this "What does bother me is the fact that this country gives a free pass to belief in bs like religion'', then I have to wonder about your patriotism. Maybe it was a poor choice of words by you which caused a poor choice of words by me. Your aversion to the current tax codes for many religions is one thing but your aversion to people believing in religion as a whole IS un-American. Once again thank you for your service. PS I hope that answers your ? also Lyle

@TIM S.....Whoa Horse! I think you need a short history lesson. The American Colonies were notRead More founded on religious freedom but for economic pursuits. Religion was carried here by those people who came here to pursue the economic opportunities of their sponsors. Now what motivated people to leave their ancestral homes might very well be religious. Groups like the Puritans were outcasts because of their opposition to the Church of England and getting away was a way of survival. In the beginning each of the colonies had an official state religion that was supported by the colonial government. Roger Williams who founded Rhode Island was banished from Massachusetts Bay Colony because he resisted the religion requirements . The current view of religious freedom didn't enter into the discussion until after the Age of Enlightenment. All through our history as a republic, religion and religious belief has been very fluid and personal. The nation's religiosity has not been consistent and has waxed and waned over time. Never has religion been a prerequisite for citizenship. To claim that to be non religious is non American is is just untrue. I think what you were maybe trying to say is that someone who is religious is a better American, but that is also a fallacy. :: Let me give you a little quiz. Rate which religious beliefs are more American in order: Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Jew, Agnostic, Evangelical Christian, Wicca, Satanist, Naturist.

This Democrat also believes the 9/11 disaster was exploited, or worse, engineered to allow forRead More passage of the Patriot Act. Remember, Biden wrote the core Patriot Act prior or post Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City Bombing. Adopted by Bush With the only objector being WI Senator Russ Finegold. House has already voted (407 to Zero) to pay back pay to furloughed government workers. In addition,Read More in past shut downs furloughed workers have always been granted back pay. My question is are the furloughed worker's currently receiving unemployment benefits? I'm really not concerned about the delay of an exhibition marking the anniversary of a US Army, Air Force Kidnapping of rebel key officials in a foreign civil war that went bad. I also not overly concerned with the closure of a Navy Base chapel. IF the clergy is overly concerned they should work for free and keep them open is my take. Entomologist can continue to study/collect Stink Bugs with full knowledge that they will eventually get paid. I don't understand why the goats won't continue to eat Poison Ivy? What is with these elected representatives of the people leaving office in the midst of their termRead More in office here of late? Why did they even run in the election in which they were elected? It's just a waste of money if they aren't going to see out their full term in office.... RIDICULOUS... no...
