I really have mixed feelings about this. Part of me feels this is a complete violation of privacyRead More and borders on a constitutional violation, yet another part of me feels our young people MUST realize there are consequences for our actions physical or verbal. This might be a good thing yet there is that possibility for misuse!!! I'm on the fence with this one. Leaning more towards this being a complete violation of our 1st amendment rights as well as our privacy!!! One step closer to becoming a police state/police nation!!!

Only if there is a valid complaint to justify the snooping.( ie- bullying, or bomb or shootingRead More threats.)

The schools need to keep their nose out of family affairs. My parents would never have allowed theRead More school to monitor my phone calls or the police without a warrant. Whats wrong with parents to even consider and not stand up for the rights of privacy of their children? Mandatory education is to address the 3 r's and should not be allowed to take over parenting.

This absolutely disgusts me. I have spent almost the entire summer trying to get in contact with Dr.Read More Burmeister regarding my son's medical condition and needs for the upcoming school year. She only responds via email (and only to about half of my requests) and REFUSES to meet with me and my husband in person. She's getting paid $164k to ignore the parents she's supposed to be serving?! Furious!!!

Kristin, try to contact the head the Special Education. I believe that is Lisa. You didn't state ifRead More your child's medical is a handicapping condition; still she should be able to better advise you on how to coordinate your son's educational needs with his medical condition. Dr. Larson's schedule is very tight in the summer and all the people things need to be coordinated with probably are not working at this time. Also, remember: Public Education is designed for the average child. Yes, we have laws on the books for children with special needs. Good luck in getting the necessary services in a small district. You'd probably be best advised to home school. I know, been there, done that, lost my butt and my kids.

For the record: Kathleen Borchardt voted against because she wanted to give an even greater payRead More increase. Borchardt needs to go she is not competent to serve on the school board my thoughts are that the establishment supports her with full knowledge that they can use and sway her to their side and support. As for Sheryl Cerniglia I do not know why she voted against the wage increase probably for the same reason. Another that doesn't have full command of math that belongs on the PTA not the board. Neither have kids in the schools. Doesn't OC have any interested parents willing to step up to the plate and run? I fully realize the teachers will jam school board meetings wanting more, do influence voting here in OC but there are more of us then them if only the residents would pay attention and vote.
The Oak Creek High School pool will be shut down through September. (Patch file photo)

Yes...spend money on the already functional pools instead of important things like the school'sRead More music program or maybe even hire some teachers that aren't narcissistic control freaks. Give me a break.

I can understand that the scheduling may be a hassle, but I don't think the district needs this onRead More their plate. I prefer the two be kept separate!

Hey! Can any of these kids pitch?

Congrats to all of the 2013 OC graduates! Spread your wings and live your dreams! Best of luck toRead More you all.

I searched high and low for information about this event and could not find anything on it. MyRead More husband and I would have loved to have gone but didn't know if we were allowed when my husband saw it going on.
Mark Schaaf June 5, 2013 at 09:17 am
Yeah I think this one was just for students.

Ochs2015 - don't get upset; I'm not. I am simply saying that the concept of the project is a greatRead More teaching tool. I however, don't think making soda is the best way to teach the overall concept. I thought that was pretty clear. That said - I have no doubt you are not promoting the consumption of soda to students BUT does that mean students are not buying the product? I don't want to take away from the creativity or learning process - I just don't think soda was the greatest idea.
way2busy2much May 30, 2013 at 07:31 am
@wiplayer - what products do you think would have been a better idea for the chemistry &Read More marketing students to make? I'm interested in your suggestions that would fulfill both the development side for chemistry, as well as "sellable" for the marketing students.
wiplayer May 31, 2013 at 09:24 am
Well I don't know. I haven't given it a thought but your question is very good. I guess I thinkRead More that is a question better answered or brainstormed by the students and teachers. I'm NOT saying the concept of two classes working together is bad - quite the opposite. I simply feel that soda is not a great choice. Now if I were to come up with an idea I'd probably not share it in an open forum like this because I'd want to build a business around it. Or maybe I would approach the school (teachers) privately with my idea. :)
