Sheriff Clarke Says County Executive Chris Abele Has 'Penis Envy'

Sparks have been flying for well over a year between Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and County Executive Chris Abele. But now, Abele has criticized Clarke's stance on guns and that has Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke calling Abele names.

An all-out war has been brewing between Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele over the budget and Clarke's statements about guns. Waged via Facebook, emails, and in the media, the battle between the two is anything but quiet. Clarke’s latest barb accused Abele of having “penis envy,” according to a blog on the Journal Sentinel. In the article, Daniel Bice chronicles Clarke’s frustrations. On the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Facebook page Clarke has been critical of Abele's intelligence.  Abele, on the other hand, acts like the smartest guy in the room. That must be quite a heavy burden to walk through life with. The many people in his cabinet that he has hired, only to turn around and soon …

Clarke Tells Gun Owners To "Fight Back," But Police Say Not So Fast

Area law enforcement officials respond to Milwaukee County Sheriff's message about gun owners fighting back and "simply calling 9-1-1 and waiting is no longer your best option."

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s personal safety message, which called on Milwaukee County gun owners to “fight back” and take a certified gun safety course, started a media firestorm as Clarke appeared on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. The inquiries came after Clarke issued the following public service announcement: I’m Sheriff David Clarke, and I want to talk to you about something personal…your safety. It’s no longer a spectator sport; I need you in the game, but are you ready? With officers laid-off and furloughed, simply calling 9-1-1 and waiting is no longer your best option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back; but are you prepared? Consider taking a certified safety course in …

So happy that Edwards didn't have the opportunity to voice "his" opinion. The minority Democratic party needs to collectively stand behind Clarke on this one. Barrett's office staff comments ridicule to cover the truth of budget cuts and impact on numbers of future street cops in problem neighborhoods. Obviously Sheriff Clarke's truthfulness caught them all with their pants down unable to respond…   more ›

Would Sheriff Cuts Hurt the Suburbs?

Greendale State Rep. Jeff Stone is concerned that the $3.3 million cut will affect services in Milwaukee County suburbs.

County Executive Chris Abele announced on Monday a proposal to cut the County Sheriff’s budget by $3.3 million and pay the City of Milwaukee just half that amount to take over county park patrols and a portion of the county's 911 calls, according to JSOnline. This cut would mean the layoff of 23 department employees, 21 of them deputies. Part of the plan sends lakefront and park patrols, plus some county 911 calls to Milwaukee police. Abele said this move would provide budget savings. Greendale State Representative Jeff Stone thinks it's not a real solution. "The County Executive's recent proposal to eliminate 23 Sheriff's Deputy positions and to give $1.6 Million to the City of Milwaukee is flawed," Stone said in a release. "It has been …

Proposed Milwaukee County Budget Includes Layoffs of 559 Employees

About half come from the Sheriff's Department; the other positions will be converted to state jobs, the Journal Sentinel reported.

The new county executive's budget cuts 559 jobs, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The layoffs are one of the main ways County Executive Chris Abele plans to plug a projected $55 million budget shortfall. The County Board Research Division overview of Abele's budget notes much of that shortfall comes from cuts of $29 million in state aid.  About half of the lay-offs are current county positions that will be converted to state jobs, the JS reports. That leaves 278 county employees at risk of being laid off, the paper reports; most of those come from the Sheriff's Department, including 119 deputies. The other Sheriff's Department employees on the chopping block are "doctors, nurses and nurses aides whose jobs would be outsourced," the…

The Board revised the budget to reduce the employee concessions, which Walker vetoed and the board overrode, so still disagree they stood behind him. As for the budget, I find it more practical to base MY budget off my actual income rather than the income I want it to be.   more ›
