Samples and specials planned for the new GFS Marketplace store.
Get your first look at the new Gordon Food Service Marketplace store opening on 27th Street just north of Rawson Avenue. The grocery store opens Sunday, Oct. 7, and customers are encouraged to check out free samplings and giveaways all week. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Ribbon cutting for the new store will be at 10 a.m.Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce. The GFS Marketplace is a 15,900-square-foot store, though plans allow for a future restaurant and outdoor dining expansion. GFS is known primarily as a food-service distributor but also has more than 140 Marketplace retail stores in nine states, including one that opened last October on Miller Park Way.

Construction is under way on Gordon Food Services' new store on 27th Street. The GFS Marketplace will be 15,900-square-foot store north of Rawson Avenue on the Franklin side of 27th. The facility will be used for retail, though plans allow for a future restaurant and outdoor dining expansion. GFS is known primarily as a food-service distributor but also has more than 140 Marketplace retail stores in nine states, including one that opened last October on Miller Park Way.

GFS proposing a store at 27th and Rawson.
Gordon Food Service is proposing a 15,899-square-foot grocery store on the Franklin side of 27th Street, according to a report in the Milwaukee Business Journal. The store would be located near the street's intersection with Rawson Avenue, the report said. GFS is known primarily for servicing food service companies but also operates retail stores, including one which recently opened on Miller Park Way in West Milwaukee.
