Police Search For Hit-and-Run Driver

A driver struck a vehicle while changing lanes near 27th and College and fled the scene as the snow started to fall Thursday.

A vehicle changing lanes near 27th Street and College Avenue struck a car and fled the scene about 5:20 p.m. Thursday. The car that was struck sustained moderate damage to its front passenger side, according to the Oak Creek Police Department logbook. The accident did not cause injuries, though the driver requested an ambulance for chest pains, according to the report. The offending vehicle was described as a maroon full-size GMC or Chevy conversion van. It likely has damage on the driver's side. The accident happened just as the snow started falling Thursday. Another accident was reported about five minutes later when a driver in the 10200 block of S. Howell Avenue lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and knocked down a fence. …

Suspect In Hit-and-Run Arrested After Pursuit

Cudahy police arrested 47-year-old who allegedly fled from Oak Creek accident.

A 47-year-old man was arrested in Cudahy after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident on Drexel Avenue in Oak Creek. According to an Oak Creek police report, the man rear-ended a vehicle as it turned onto S. Burdick Ave. from the 500 block of E. Drexel Ave. about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A witness told police the man left his car disabled in the roadway and jumped into another vehicle. The witness followed that vehicle into Cudahy. The 47-year-old fled on foot from Cudahy officers and into St. Francis but was eventually apprehended by Cudahy police, according to the report. He was arrested for multiple offenses, including operating without insurance, inattentive driving and operating while revoked, and could face other citations for …

Girl Arrested For OWI After Hit-and-Run at Target

17-year-old allegedly hit woman, car in store parking lot.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested Thursday night in connection with a hit-and-run accident and cited for three offenses, including drunken driving. According to an Oak Creek police report: Police responded to a report of a woman struck by a car in the parking lot of Target, 8989 S. Howell Ave., about 7:20 p.m. When officers arrived, they found that a legally-parked car was also hit. Police got the driver's license plate number from a witness and were able to make contact with her via phone. She told police she was at South Shore Cinema and that her vehicle broke down in the 700 block of W. Puetz Road. An officer met her at the movie theater and drove her to her vehicle's location. I'm sure many of the people that have commented on here have driven drunk once or twice in their history. Driver Arrested After Striking Pedestrian, Leaving Scene

74-year-old woman taken to hospital with head injury.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after she allegedly struck a pedestrian with her vehicle and left the scene.  According to a police report, a 74-year-old woman was crossing Howell Avenue in the 8800 block about 1:15 p.m. She was just about to reach the distress lane when a southbound vehicle hit her. The woman was alert and breathing when police arrived, but had a visible head injury and said her "whole body hurt," according to police. An Oak Creek Fire Department ambulance took her to Froedtert Hospital.
